Bugatti Divo

Origins & Exclusivity

  • Introduced in August 2018 at The Quail, Monterey, the Bugatti Divo is named after French racing legend Albert Divo, winner of two Targa Florio races for Bugatti in the 1920s.

  • Production was strictly limited to just 40 units, all pre-sold to Chiron owners, making it one of the rarest hypercars ever built.

  • Each car carried a price tag of around €5 million (≈ $5.8 million).

Design & Aerodynamics

  • Track-focused styling: Features an aggressive front splitter, enlarged air intakes, a massive fixed rear wing (1.83 m wide, 23% wider than the Chiron’s), and large diffuser for improved downforce.

  • Downforce boost: Generates approximately 456 kg of downforce—90 kg more than the Chiron.

  • Cooling optimizations: Includes roof NACA ducts, brake-cooling vents, and airflow-guiding blades for efficient thermal management.

  • Lightweight enhancements: Shedded ~35 kg by using carbon-fiber components, lighter wheels, thinner sound insulation, and opting out of interior lockers and hefty systems.

Powertrain & Performance

  • Retains the 8.0 L quad-turbocharged W16 engine from the Chiron, producing 1 103 kW (1 500 PS / ~1 479 hp) and 1 600 Nm torque .

  • Transmission is a 7-speed dual-clutch unit sending power to all four wheels.

  • 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in just 2.4 seconds, with top speed capped at 380 km/h (236 mph) to prioritize aerodynamic stability.

  • Cornering capabilities: Achieves 1.6 g lateral acceleration, demonstrating its agility-focused engineering .

  • Lap time improvement: About 8 seconds quicker than the Chiron around the Nardò handling circuit.

Chassis & Handling

  • Built on a stiffened chassis with revised suspension: raised camber, stiffer springs/dampers, adaptive modes (Lift, EB, Autobahn, Handling, Top-Speed).

  • Uses double-wishbone suspension front and rear, paired with large carbon-ceramic brakes: 420 mm front / 400 mm rear discs.

Interior & Luxury

  • Driver-centric cabin: Lighter and more racing-focused than the Chiron, trimmed in Alcantara and exposed carbon fiber, with sport seats featuring enhanced bolstering.

  • Minimalist luxury: no door storage or central lockers; pared-back sound system to save weight.

  • Aesthetic touches: 3D‑printed rear light fins, lightweight LED headlights (35 mm aperture), and Bugatti’s iconic horseshoe grille.

How the Bugatti Divo Stands Out

Compared to Bugatti Chiron:

  • More agile: Divo is 35 kg lighter and generates more downforce.

  • Less speed-focused: Top speed capped at 380 km/h vs Chiron’s 420+, but with better cornering (1.6 g lateral acceleration).

  • Design: Far more aggressive and dramatic.

Compared to Koenigsegg Jesko:

  • Jesko aims for world-record top speed (300+ mph), while Divo is about track precision.

  • Jesko is more radical and high-tech (9-speed LST transmission), whereas Divo sticks to Bugatti’s quad-turbo tradition.

  • Jesko is faster, but Divo is arguably more luxurious.

Compared to Pagani Huayra:

  • Both are rare and highly bespoke—but Huayra emphasizes craftsmanship and art, while Divo leans into performance and engineering.

  • Huayra’s Mercedes-AMG V12 is less powerful but delivers intimate driving feel; Divo is brute-force + refinement.

Compared to McLaren Sabre:

  • Sabre is lighter and more aggressive in track dynamics, but less powerful and produced only for the U.S.

  • Divo feels more refined and planted, Sabre more wild and visceral.

  • Both are ultra-exclusive, but Divo has the brand prestige edge.

Compared to Lamborghini Sián:

  • Sián is a hybrid hypercar, showcasing Lamborghini’s electrification future.

  • Sián’s V12 hybrid system is innovative but can’t match Divo’s power or raw speed.

  • Sián is more stylized, while Divo is aerodynamic-focused.
